What’s up everyone? Hope y’all are doin’ well. I have finally returned from the void that was the past year. For those that are curious, no I didn’t die I’ve mostly been working on another website over at animeexplicated.org, a very different sort of content than what I post here. Besides that I’ve been on a personal art journey and experimenting with lots of different things. I’m not gonna info dump because I’m sure what I’ve been doing will come up in articles in the near future.
Just wanted to give you all an update on my plans moving forward and about how I’ve changed the way I work. I’m a huge fan of moonshots – superhuman, long-term targets that really get you excited and ready for action. Thing is when it comes to short-term stuff I find that setting overly ambitious expectations, especially with my chaotic, swirling mass of creative projects, really does not work. I would rather focus exclusively on the quality of my content and post infrequently but semi-consistently, than make it a race to create good enough content that I post 4-6 times per month. My current goal is to post here no more than 1-2 times per month while delivering maximum value to my reader base. I’ve had this website for a long time now and I have a lot of lofty goals about how I could make it better, but truthfully there are already too many things on my plate. Simplicity is a huge component of what I consider a rich life, and that’s what I’m focusing on right now.
As for what simplifying means, I’m gonna spend less time worried about whether I’m saying exactly the right thing, or about whether I’ve crossed some invisible trip wire. If at some point I offend someone or get into some trouble, it’s really not my intention. I don’t care about being controversial for it’s own sake. What I do care about is diving into that which I believe to be valuable and under-explored. That out of the way, I hope you will look forward to more content from me in this new chapter of FourthEye.
All the best,
