Bite-Sized #1 – Performance/Productivity Pyramid Model

Trying something a little bit different for FourthEye, as an idea I had around how to achieve higher engagement and avoid burning out. My idea was to do little, bite-sized posts where I discuss something like a model or concept that I’m working with, that may not be super polished but just something that people could get a bit of utility out of. This lets me post more, and also gets people more stuff to chew on when I’m not up to posting longer pieces for whatever reason. Mainly I’m not going write, type and edit these in separate instances, allowing me to upload without the built in downtime. Anyhow, without further adieu enter bite-sized numero uno…

A bit of an idea that I’ve had floating around for the past few years, is the idea of using the concept of pyramid training from the strength and conditioning world, and applying it to work or activities more broadly.

My way of applying this at the moment involves laying out the various levels of performance that I might have on some given day, and then assigning tasks or sorts of things that I would be wiling to do given that performance level. Maybe you could do this with a gradient like a spectrum of performance from like 0 to 100%, but I prefer to do it with letter grades like a “tier list” for those familiar. An example might be:

S Game – writing(anything), art(anything), code {essentially anything high return with a high energy or performance requirement}

A Game – social media work, editing in bulk(to catch mistakes without wasting S game), slightly more power naps and recovery stuff

B Game – chores, maintenance work, light whatever, recovery, verbal idea-crafting

C Game – go the fuck to sleep, try to get up to C+ – B game range

Fairly basic idea of what the application of this concept might be. Helps me not waste time figuring out what to do based on how I feel, and also not try to take on tasks not suited to a particular performance level ending in disappointment.

Hope this was useful and let me know if you guys would be interested in this kind of content, because I like doing it. Be well and peace out.
